[combat] – exactly what does this do? I’ve noticed it is sometimes needed in a line for an attack to work as a pre-macro, but isnt needed elsewhere? Is that correct? Why?
With combat before a cast or castsequence, that will only fire if you are actually in combat. Some macros you can leave firing off full time (though not recommended). For example, an enhance shaman has a skill crash lightning, if you have “/cast Crash Lightning” in your macro and you hit the macro while just running to your next target, you will cast crash lightning where you stand. But if you have the combat tag in that line, you won’t cast it until you start attacking something or they attack you.
