Hey everyone!

As life’s hectivities have gone down a bit, I’ve decided to try my hand at creating macros once again for TWW expansion - This time for :crystal_ball: Arcane Mage :crystal_ball:

After quite a bit of studying into the new way GSE works, I decided to try my hand at creating a macro for a class I’ve never played :see_no_evil: !

Please note: Talent and rotations are from WoWhead’s rotation guide.

I managed to get 265k DPS on cleave target dummies consistently at 100ms with ilvl 480 - Based on Raidbots sim on Target Dummy cleave - Apparently it’s 90% of the sim result :man_shrugging:

As always if you can improve it, I’d be more than happy to update it with suggestions.

Installation

Step-by-Step guide

1- Open GSE with /gse
2- Select Sequence from the pop-up
3- Click import
4- Paste the sequence found under GSE Sequence above
5- Navigate to Keybindings in GSE
6- Select the Macro and assign the keybind you’d like
7- Go to options in the GSE menu
8- Under Troubleshooting, unselect ActionButtonUseKeyDown

I love the macro! It’s currently the best I’ve used so far – PLEASE keep updating it – I’ve never played Mage before and people like you really are ESSENTIAL to people like myself :slight_smile:

SUGGESTION:

Add:

/cleartarget [dead]
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]

to the beginning of the rotation or each and every block (I do that). I welcome input on this as well.

Hello, I’m no mage expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I really like the macro. It works well. The only request I make is, is there a way to put evocation on a modifier key, it goes off right at the beginning of the fight and wastes it for later. And could you put in an auto target function?

Auto target was already suggested and author said would be added when he next updates the sequence. And Evocation is supposed to go off at the beginning…doesn’t matter if you go by the arcane guide on icyveins or wowhead…arcane rotation starts with evo.

I have a question. The blocks are set to be in sequential order. Evocation goes off first which makes sense because that is block one but none of the others cast in order as the blocks stand. Can you explain this? How do I make it so that touch of the magi, then evocation and then Arcane surge cast in this order? Shifting power needs to go off after the cooldowns because it reduces the cooldowns, but it doesn’t go off last, even though it is listed in the last block. Wouldn’t it make sense if Touch of the Magi came before all the cooldowns so it can suck up all the damage? Not sure if this is what you intended but it is not working that way. Not trying to beat up your work here. I really appreciate the effort and want this to work for me. If you have any guidance, please let me know. Thank you :slight_smile:

Hey, so the issue with blocking in general is that unless you do the Math for Haste, GCD, and the CD of the spell itself, and align it with the click rate you’re running the macro with, it’ll be quite hectic. At least I haven’t gotten to that point in my Macro creation.

The alternative is to keep a constant MS when you run the macro and play around with the blocks. What I do is I go to target dummies and run my macro, note the spells that fire off in sequence, and adjust accordingly. “Cast Log” plugin for details can help with that.

Im 585iLvL and i cant get more than 175k DPS, i know im new to arcane but that was the purpose of even using this macro. it works as intended but im not sure what im doing wrong lol
*Update i think its the Target dummy, i switched to Another and im seeing over 300k now #UserError

This is still the pre-patch version. I’m going to either follow WoWhead’s or Icy’s recos once more Mythic players update their guide, and include Hero talents in it as well. Just hit 80 with my mage last night, Will be doing more testing with Arcane in the next week.

It goes Evo, Surge, then TotM for a reason…Surge buffs TotM by 35%…that’s a lot of damage to lose out on if you put it at the beginning. With improved TotM you store 25% of your damage over 12secs then that full amount hits your target…Arcane surge is additive to TotM, which makes it 60% of your damage over 12secs…usually using Arcane Blast for the duration, which would be far more damage than putting TotM before Arcane Surge.
