Jack's Devourer DH | Annihilator | March 15

this locks up whenever im casting consume and i exit meta or vise versa

Change /cast to /use on abilities that change their names and put the empowered ability underneath.

Eg.
/use Consume
/use Devour

/use Reap
/use Cull

I have this issue on any class/spec where empowered abilities have a different name to their original spell.

sweet thanks ill do that

@BillNyeTGG_1118, @DanTheMan_21305, @Evenscore,

I’m still encountering this issue after trying to work it out for the past weekend. It seems like the problem might come down to Cull<>Reap being switched to Eradicate during Meta, and upon dropping Meta the GSE Macro tries casting the last known form of Cull<>Reap (cull in this case).

I’ve tried ActionButtons and Keybindings and both seem to fail for me. I’ve tried /cast and /use. I’ve contemplated trying to clear the spell cache at the start of the rotation (probably has an FPS impact).

It’s so bad at this point I have a macro to /reload

Would love to hear if you guys figure anything out.

I did find a git ticket with a potentially similar complain for another class with potential solutions I have yet to experiment with: [BUG] Combat Ability Transformations Break on leaving Combat · Issue #1887 · TimothyLuke/GSE-Advanced-Macro-Compiler · GitHub

Sorry all didn’t see these replies, I shared with dudemandan, changing cast to use. For example my blocks are, an example of block 1;

/Use [mod:shift,nochanneling] Void Ray

/Use [nomod, nochanneling, known: Reap] Reap

/Use [nomod, nochanneling, known: Cull] Cull

Do the same for consume and devour, add whichever Modkeys, for me this has worked fine, everyone seems to be having different results but this works 100% of the time for me for devourer

I prefer using nomod as it guarantees modkey is hit instantly

Been playing brewmaster, 2.8k io ATM so didn’t revisit this thread

So ive definitely fixed the issues, i have shared the gse below in the OP

Unfortunately this does not seem to work on import and says it is “unable to be interpreted”. :frowning:

@Evenscore I think I’ve tried a combination of almost everything; and it’s still not working for me.

  1. Do you use Actionbar Overrides or Keybindings?
    1. How fast are you pressing, I’m using the scrollwheel.
  2. Could you screenshot and share your GSE Settings → Troubleshooting → Edit Spell Cache?
  3. I might just have to delete my saved variables and start over; I’m not quite sure why I’m locking up so consistently.
    1. gse debug menu isn’t even really helping.

I just got back from a trip to Japan. I’ve read all of the replies above and will do some testing and update as needed.

I have been using your sequence for several hours now, and like most Devourer setups, it does end up revolving around the same four abilities. Even so, it works well. The one thing I would strongly stress is that this build performs far better when played manually. If someone tries to run it on full auto in Mythic or in raids, they are going to get themselves killed. The rotation will fire abilities at the wrong time, and using something like Void Ray while standing in an AoE is a quick way to wipe or cause unnecessary panic.

Because of that, I highly recommend that anyone playing this sequence, or any Devourer sequence in general, uses modifiers for Void Ray and Metamorphosis. Handling those manually gives you full control over positioning and timing, which is something the automated rotation simply cannot account for. A WeakAura or any similar tracker for Metamorphosis and Void Ray cooldowns also helps a lot, since it gives you an immediate visual cue when those abilities are ready.

So far, I cannot complain about the overall performance. The sequence is simple, consistent, and gets the job done. I am curious to hear about any testing you have done on your end and whether you think anything needs refining. At this stage I doubt it really does, unless Blizzard decides to overhaul the entire build or spec, which seems unlikely right now.
