Hello everyone and happy new year to you all.
Just thought I’d bring everyone (or anyone who’s interested anyway) up to speed with developments in Macro Toolkit.
I’m aware of a few lingering issues since the WoD came out. So far these have been primarily due to changes in the macro numbering system that wreaked havoc with way MT works. Most outstanding issues I’ve found are due to issues with individuals’ Saved Variables files. If you suspect you’re one of these, please let me have your file and I’ll see if I can fix it for you.
I’ve been asked to add a data broker to Macro Toolkit as used in the now defunct Macro Broker addon. I’ve done this, but given the restrictions that go with it (no secure commands like /cast or /target) - I’m not sure how useful it will be, but hey, it was asked for so I added it.
I’ve also had a go at fixing the long standing issue of icons not updating for extended macros. I didn’t think it was possible to do this until I dug into Macro Broker (and Gnome Sequencer) and the default UI, which is why it’s been so long coming.
I’ve also added an option for Elv UI users to override the Elv skin for MT. The above are all currently on an Alpha release.
On the subject of Gnome Sequencer, it worries me a little. It’s a simple, but very clever piece of coding and you can’t help but admire the author’s ingenuity. But as others have noted, it’s explicitly circumventing something Blizzard have gone to great lengths to block - it allows an addon to modify a macro during combat; not only that but it allows a great deal of intelligence to be added to the macro by exposing the power of the lua engine to it. If Blizzard get wind I fear they’ll stamp their feet over this one. Hopefully they’ll just leave it well alone.
That said, I’m happy to help with any lua snippets anyone needs for Gnome Sequencer, or to entertain any suggestions for improvements to Macro Toolkit.
