Orbalisk's - By the Light! (PvP & Mythic+/Raid) v. 8.4 (Updated 11/18/24)

I’m not by my computer but if I recall correctly I’m about 30% crit and 40% mastery. The rest is haste.

The macro will fire everything you need for a DPS rotation. Defensives and certain skills like rebuke and Hammer of justice are on modifiers. To utilize those modifiers you hold the macro down while pressing one of those buttons either alt control or shift to get the desired function. It’s easier to do this way because spamming those buttons while spamming the macro may not fire them off correctly and stopping the macro the farthest buttons will be a substantial DPS loss.

It will cast your rotational abilities. If you ever look at wowheads ret pally rotation guide you will see a priority list of abilities to use. This macro does a very good job of managing that.

Anything not part of that list is not a rotational spell. Instead it is a defensive or utility. These generally are not used in sequences as they need to be pressed at very specific times. Macros can not do that so they need to be pressed manually.

Lets say you bind the aoe macro to “2” and the single target macro to 3. You are in the middle of a single target boss fight so you are holding “3” down (if you are using AHK or Razor or the in game version of these) but you need to cast Word of Glory on yourself. You will keep holding down “3” but you will also hold down alt until Word of Glory casts.

These are in game macros that are called on by the GSE macro. They don’t need to be bound or used by you. Their purpose is to ensure that the main macro uses Execution Stance and than Wake of Ashes one after another (or at least as close as possible) as not doing so is a massive dps loss.

How do i stop it from using my trinket in PVP?

Thats an easy one, go into the sequence block and search for use 13 and use 14, and delete those and save.

Could I have to set of them one for PVP that doesn’t use and one for pve that does?

I’m having an issue with the macro not spending my holy power. Is there any way to fix this or do I need to manually cast Final verdict/Divine storm?

ok so for the tabs in each macro do i delete others that i dont want to use?

Nope no reason to. They are good to have if you need to change builds or want to use cd’s manually for a boss fight.

Thank you for sharing these and all the work you do for this community. My dad loves your macro. He lost 3 fingers in 2002 in iraq so this allows him to continue to play wow.

Quick noob question / does the macro work properly when I’m pressing macroed key manually as fast as I can or is it too slow to work as it supposed ?

Quick answer: Pressing a key manually will significantly decrease the effectiveness of GSE in general.

More info, if you care about reasons: GSE works by firing off a list of macros in sequence at a rate of one macro “block” per keypress, if it can’t execute the macro block (because of spell CD, GCD, movement, etc) it moves onto trying the next block.

Last I checked, Orbalisk’s single target macro is 6 blocks that have a reverse sequence priority (1,21,321,4321,54321,654321). That means the full “sequence” would take an average of ~10 presses or maximum of 21 keypresses to get to an available skill. A 50ms script would cycle through all 21 blocks in ~1 second which means, even in the worst case scenario, every GCD will be used.

Now the manual key-press scenario. Let’s say you can consistently tap a key at 5 taps per second (which is very very fast already), that means you will hit an available skill within 2seconds on average and 4 seconds in the worst case scenario. Basically you lose 50% of your casts because of human limitation.

Maybe that could help some of us in testing.

Cleaned my game files and lost all old sequences sadly and I wanted to test version 8 with talents from 8.0 and 8.1, somehow that version worked better for me than the new ones did.

Your work on this is really appreciated man you help a lot of people to be able to play again👍

Hey, that’s a lot of extra work and time. I’m not going to do that. If I have the version you want I can export it for you. I do delete versions that are not in use anymore though.

If you have trouble after messing with the sequence, relogging seems to fix it. Not sure why. I sim for 640k. With 8.4 st and 3v3 blitz talents I do 740k over a 3 min duration on Kelpfist. But if i mess with the sequence (deleting use 14 so i can manual my medallion) itll drop me to 300k dps until I relog and then its back up. just a fyifwiw if anyone has similar weird issues.
