Sorry to hear Viktri! Thank you to the many macro authors for the hard work.
so this does not work anymore?
I worked around the changes of the Blizz. The idea is that you can not change in combat the autounshift stance. So before entering dungeon I set the value of the cvar to 0. I also changed the macro and removed the lines that it was trying to change the cvar value. For me it works great.
So my button macro is:
/run SetCVar(āautoUnshiftā,0)
and GSE edited macro is

The heal lines look something like
/cast [@mouseover, nodead, help, exists, nochanneling] Regrowth
So with a new patch upon us I figured Iād go through how the macro is performing. Same builds and versions as I used in the previous patches.
Week 2 so far.
Heroic: I didnāt preform well here as I had no idea when to use CDās and was more focused on the fights mechanics as I couldnāt remember them.
Normal
Heroic
M+
This is the gear Iām ending the week with. Much of the above was done with a far lower ilvl than here.
Over all the macro is still preforming very well. The damage is significantly higher this season with our new tier set. At this point in a +8 I still need a healer as my health can ping pong a bit if I donāt have a defensive up. As a result I prefer the thrash build over the more common moonfire build.
A note about stats. I have prioritized haste/vers all expansion but since hitting the second diminishing return on vers I decided to drop to 40% vers (was 46%) and start stacking crit as my third stat. Iām aiming for 30% haste, 40% vers (with MotW, Flask and 6% from bear form) the rest as crit. In addition this will help proc our BiS trinket more often when we get it in two weeks.
Update: With week 3 it looks like the macro can easily get portals this season.
Is that āThrash Buildā just the standard wowhead build but moving the point from Twin Moonfire into Flashing Claws?
Maybe also dropping Galactic guardian for another point?
BgGAORarfDaLt4uMx8TYOtl8GAAAAAAAAAAAAAQikkIlQJJBSKSIJFKAkIhgEikkESiUEgDAAAAAAEBEECA
Normally Iād drop Hibernate for Heart of the Wild but you always want to be able to help with the incorps. You could drop speed instead.
I picked up the Rageheart trinket with this weeks bullions and the shield is great with tyrannical as it gives us the additional defensive although its a bit lacking on dps. Next week I think Iāll grab the Augury for more damage for better parses.
@Hermit can u link gse rotation
@hermit. Just found this again. Used it in S2 then when Viktri stopped updating went to Deks. Came here to check on updates for his and saw the recent posts in this thread and though Iād stop by. So anyways, just wanna make sure I have everything correct before I switch over and try this. Talents you posted 5 days ago- and just follow the links you just posted for the ST/OT build and AOE build, yes? I destroyed stuff in S2 with this macro- Deks is a bit āsquishierā for a lack of a better term- prolly because he uses the twin moonfire build. Thanks for keeping this alive- in S2 it was the best out there and hopefully still is.
Yup.
My macros are named different to prevent it from over writing Viktriās original macro so there is no worry there.
Nothing has really changed since my posts from last season so if you want to see any of my talent builds for raids vs dungeons and other particular instances, my keybind set up and all of the various versions and when to use them you can find it all further up the thread. There is also a step by step guide to running FH which you can kind of use to figure out what to do in this seasons dungeons.
And yeah the moonfire build is a lot squishier than the full thrash build here. The two extra stacks of thrash help reduce damage by 4%. The extra damage from the two thrash stacks as well as the thrash procs adds more to your shield.
Also if you go from Dream of Cenerius and instead drop it into Ursocs endurance it works out to the same amount of survivability (though only for you,) and adds damage because your armor will be higher with Thorns of Iron (which in some runs can equal Raze.)
Over all the thrash build is a very defensive heavy build. I know its gotten praise from some of the pg healers Iāve run with because they can spend more time doing dps or worrying about the heal checks on dps instead of babysitting me.
You are the real MVP here. Thank you so much for all the updates you make, unfortunately I donāt feel like I will be coming back to WoW for War Within, but nothing is set in stone yet.
Iād like to put your macro into the main post, with a disclaimer that I have stopped playing and this version is by you and there might be newer version in the comments.
If that sounds good, please could you post your latest version of the macro, talents, and if needed additional information on how it is different from my old macro, and Iāll update the main post.
Again thanks for your continued dedication!
@Hermit and @Viktri . You are both VIPs in my book. I have spent a few days using your macro, Hermit- and for my play style it blows away Dekās. Not to take anything away from his work, but I prefer to play a more defensively oriented tank. For me, it doesnāt matter if you +2 or +3 a key- all that matters is you at least make time, and the rest is gravy. You cannot do that if the tank cannot survive the onslaughts from the various packs and bosses. DPS classes do the dps- tanks absorb damage and control aggro. Itās been that way since Vanilla. Once we are all at max ilevel there may be a good argument for twin moonfire, but until I get some decent gear this build is what I will stay with. Appreciate all the thorough explanations of how you do things as well. Wouldnāt mind seeing how you have your action bars set up if you donāt mind sharing. Right now, my interrupt is set to the number 3, but I may switch it to R since its next to wasd. Never thought of it. Anyways, too much caffeine this morning- starting to ramble- lol.
Sorry for the late reply. You can go ahead and use anything Iāve ever posted. Its yours after all =)
At the moment Iām trying to hit the MoP remix hard. I might do a quick revision and guide about the first 10 levels there. Ill try to take the time to do a post with everything updated here but Iām hesitant to say Iāll take over with the possible massive revision of GSE in war within.
I hate the uncertainty of whats going to happen. Though I suppose if nothing else I can use Razor or AHK to emulate it with a key recorded macro. Once I find out more I may take up the project (though Iām always a better follower than leader.)
Thank you. I too like a more defensive build.
I do believe there is a post above that had it. But
1 - Moonfire
2 - AOE Macro(or off tank in raid)
3 - Single target Macro
4 - Growl
5 - Rotates as needed this week is Remove corruption last week it was a Hibernation mouseover macro.
R - Interrupt
Sift 2/3 - Frenzied Regen
I click everything else as my hand movements are fairly limited.
How is the MoP Remix? I want to use it as a justification to resub but all my friends are treating me like a battered wife who wants to go back to her abusive husband with how many times has WoW disappointed me xD
Right now its a bit of a mess as the scaling is off. Its kind of fun to see MoP again but at the same time its old content so I think that will be short lived for myself at least. The cloak was a disappointment and I donāt care for the meta and tinker gems much but I do like being able to combine gems into more powerful gems (feels like a return to infinite grinding AP in legion.)
I would say Iād rather be grinding the current season what with the ability to buy BiS items every other week. But Iām a collector at heart so Iām really there for the mounts, pets and finishing up a couple of achievements. Once Iām done with that I donāt see myself replaying it any more.
Also I get the battered wife syndrome as Iāve tried to quit countless times and I always come back despite at times despising either the game play or company. I have no idea why its as addictive as it is.
I feel Regrowth need removed from sequence it not really essential and would work better if just popped on its own if req with proc with regrowth in sequence during dungeon im popping out out form in middle of trash and boss fights which isnt really great for a tank other wise its a great macro its just the repeatedly popping out of form which could get someone killed. it doesnt happen outside dungeon just inside as have done questing big trash pulls etc and all fine but in dungeons its just not great, dont know if error on my end or other people having issue im just saying the issue im having with it in hope there will be answers
There are multiple comments on this further up in the thread, but the short version reply is that Blizzard changed the CVar variable that controls our ability to block and unblock changing out of bear form. It now doesnāt work in combat and they donāt look like theyāre going to change it back. Probably best to just remove (or comment out) the Regrowth sequence from the macro at your end.
But it is all explained much more clearly further up in the thread!
@Hermit. So I am doing 8/9/10s with ease using this macro. SHIFT does not work for me for frenzied regeneration. I have uninstalled and reinstalled- and nothing else is bound to the SHIFT key. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can fix this? It isnāt a big deal- as I have these macros bound to the NUM- key and CTRL NUM - and have them on an action bar to the side since they will fire on any action bar, so I put FR on key 3 and I am used to pressing it, but life would be better if all I had to do was press SHIFT
I also noticed that you mentioned you talent remove corruption for that week. Can you provide a talent tree that you have developed that works with the macro. Thanks.
Its a lot of fun the cloak is op
