Hi Guys,
I am still no expert in GSE-Macros, but I’ve been experimenting with a very simple Rogue levelling macro for WoW Forever.
The goal is not to automate every Rogue ability, but to remove the repetitive
builder → builder → finisher part while keeping interrupts, defensives, CC,
mobility and PvP utility manual.
This is currently being tested in the WoW Forever Beta.
Tested so far:
- Level 13 Rogue
- WoW Forever Beta
- GSE
- 100MS key repeat / spam with Razor Mouse

Goal:
Keep the basic solo rotation extremely simple and predictable.
Rotation:
Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Eviscerate → Repeat
Macro:
/startattack
/castsequence Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate
B. VARIANTS
Levels 1–9
Goal
A very simple low-level Combat Rogue leveling sequence.
Rotation
Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Eviscerate
/startattack
/castsequence reset=target Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate
Manual
Use Gouge, Kick, Sprint, Evasion and other utility manually as needed.
Levels 10–25
Goal
Keep the basic rotation simple, while adding manual access to Slice and Dice and Gouge without interfering with the main castsequence.
Rotation
Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Eviscerate
Modifiers
ALT – Slice and Dice
CTRL – Gouge
/startattack
/cast [mod:ctrl] Gouge
/cast [mod:alt] Slice and Dice
/castsequence [nomod:ctrl, nomod:alt] reset=target Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate
Manual
Kick, Sprint, Evasion and other utility as needed.
Level 26+
Goal
Switch to the established TBC-style Combat Rogue playstyle once Cheap Shot becomes available.
The stealth opener stays manual:
Stealth → Pick Pocket → Cheap Shot
After the opener, use the macro for the normal Combat rotation.
Rotation
Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Sinister Strike → Eviscerate
tbd when i reach Level 26
C. MANUAL ABILITIES
For now I deliberately keep these manual:
- Kick
- Evasion
- Sprint
- Vanish
- Sap
- Kidney Shot
- PvP utility
- Situational finishers
The idea is that GSE handles the boring repeatable part while the Rogue gameplay
itself remains manual.
D. TRIAL & ERROR
I built a small Forever addon for me to do some debugging.
It shows the abilities actually executed by the client as a moving icon history,
similar to discontinued TrufiGCD.
You can also find the addon on Curseforge:
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/actiontrail
This was very useful for distinguishing between:
- GSE being triggered
- GSE moving to another step
- WoW actually executing an ability
It also has an optional GSE debug display showing the GSE trigger number and
current step.
That is how I eventually found the difference between GSE Sequential behaviour
and native /castsequence behaviour.
E. MY TALENTS 10–30
This is the talent path I currently use together with the three leveling macro variants above.
The goal is smooth solo Combat Rogue leveling setup with strong Sinister Strike efficiency, better Eviscerate damage, Riposte for reactive melee combat, and Blade Flurry as the level 30 milestone.
Talent order
Level 10–11 2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
Level 12–14 3/3 Improved Eviscerate
Level 15–17 3/3 Precision
Level 18–20 3/3 Deflection
Level 21 1/1 Riposte
Level 22–23 2/2 Endurance
Level 24–28 5/5 Dual Wield Specialization
Level 29 1/2 Improved Sprint
Level 30 1/1 Blade Flurry
Level 30 result
Combat – 21 points
2/2 Improved Sinister Strike
3/3 Improved Eviscerate
3/3 Precision
3/3 Deflection
1/1 Riposte
2/2 Endurance
1/2 Improved Sprint
5/5 Dual Wield Specialization
1/1 Blade Flurry
Why this works well with the macros
- Improved Sinister Strike directly supports the main builder used in all three macro versions.
- Improved Eviscerate improves the standard finisher used in the early leveling sequences.
- Precision and Dual Wield Specialization improve the basic Combat playstyle without adding extra button complexity.
- Riposte fits very well as a reactive additional attack during normal melee combat.
- Endurance improves Sprint/Evasion uptime while leveling.
- Blade Flurry becomes available at level 30 and is mapped to
SHIFTin the 26+ macro.
F. CHANGELOG
v1.05 ReWork
- Added experimental “10-25 (fix SnD & Evis)” version
- New fixed rotation:
SS → SS → SnD → SS → SS → SS → Eviscerate - SnD is now part of the native castsequence instead of being used manually
- Prevents the sequence from getting stuck on Eviscerate after SnD consumes the combo points
- The 26+ version was functionally identical to 10-25 because the planned Cheap Shot opener cannot yet be integrated reliably
V1.04 BugFixing Variant 26+: Clean working now, even without “Blade Furry” skilled
V1.03 Combat Rogue leveling update
- Split the leveling macro into three stages :
- 1–9 – basic Sinister Strike / Eviscerate rotation
- 10–25 – adds
ALTSlice and Dice andCTRLGouge - 26+ – switches to the established TBC-style Combat Rogue setup
- Kept the Stealth opener manual from level 26 onward:
Stealth → Pick Pocket → Cheap Shot
- Modifier layout for 26+ :
SHIFT– Blade FlurryALT– Slice and DiceCTRL– Gouge
- Gouge was removed from the fixed castsequence because it could block the main Sinister Strike rotation under rapid key spam.
- Main combat rotation remains based on a native
/castsequencefor reliable execution under fast GSE/WLM triggering. - Added a recommended Combat leveling talent path from level 10 to 30 , ending with Blade Flurry at level 30.
