Thanksâand yeah, using SBA for rotation isnât a decision I made lightly. Balance is the only spec where I had to resort to it, and believe me, I tried everything before going that route.
I went through every possible GSE setup: NOMOD, SHIFT, CTRL, ALT, even nested macros. Easily spent 40â50 hours just sitting at a target dummy or running keys trying to get this working without SBA.
Double this, 50ms is what they are designed to run at.
I keep each build around 20 steps, meaning you need to be running at 20/sec or 50ms to cycle through the sequence fully once per second. Otherwise, you are going to have âpausesââreducing DPS further
Cat form is prompted first with the Prowl Icon and if that is unavailable then again with the Cat Form Icon and only while out of combat.
SBA Explanation
In most specs, thereâs a clear pattern:
- A filler/builder ability used for either single-target (ST) or AoE
or - A spender thatâs dedicated to either ST or AoE
Balance Druid has both types for both target profiles. That means you canât just assign a filler to the NOMOD key, because it wonât cast the other filler when needed. Same problem with spendersâit wonât swap cleanly when context shifts.
To make matters worse, the filler spell that moves you into the correct Eclipse is not the one you want to spam based on your current damage situation. So youâre not just juggling rotationâyouâre juggling Eclipse alignment, too.
WeakAuras does a fantastic job of detecting ST/AoE for close range specs, but itâs far less precise for rangedâespecially in dynamic group content which further complicated the accuracy of the triggers (and DPS).
At the end of the day, SBA was the cleanest and most reliable option. It taps into game APIs that WeakAuras canât access, handles ST/AoE detection much more accurately, and even supports Eclipse management. For Balance, itâs just⊠necessary.
