A macro that saves Feral

First of all, let me state that I am very thankful to Aaralak, Spitz and Grimm Greysson for their efforts in improving the feral experience. I got into using macros because of you guys and am grateful for that. It really helped make this complex class a lot easier to handle and to keep up with the other classes in terms of numbers. What got me to post this is the fact that feral is being under-represented nowadays, and finding good ferals is pretty rare. I want to see that change for selfish reasons (I love feral) and have hence created an account here.

The following is a heavily modified version of the macros already posted in this forum. I have tested this in the Emerald Nightmare and have gotten some pretty good results. Unfortunately, I am still a noob and do not know how to create and share my logs. However, you guys can test and see the results for yourself.

Sequences['PratKittyST'] = {

}

As you can see, the main section is quite big and follows a sequence that tries to ensure getting booldtalons on point and maximizing dps while being as easy on the buttons as possible. Also note that I have not included racial actives like Berserking and not included cooldowns like Berserk and Mighty Bash as I feel that it is better to use them when you think the situation is right and not leave it to the macro.

Also you can see that Regrowth is built into the main sequence and hence has a very low chance of not being cast for free (has a approx. 8.5% chance of changing forms to cast or happens when you are following boss mechanics). However, during testing I found that this was not much of an issue. Also, in the first iteration, Ashamane’s frenzy gets cast almost immediately when available, but in successive iterations, there might be a slight delay due to berserk/bloodlusts not being available. This still ensures that the macro runs smooth but sacrifices dps slightly.

Do note that I have an ilvl of 860 and have the Sephuz’s secret legendary and also use Mark of the Hidden Satyr on my neck to get the numbers I am going to say. I have a crit of 45% and a mastery of 58%. Hence I mostly have 4 moves before each finisher, giving a 91.5% percent chance of getting a 5cp finisher. You may change the sequence to your liking. Also note that this macro specializes in getting good numbers at raid and dungeon bosses and requires all your skills to be off cooldown. So stop using your long cd skills when close to the boss.

Now, onto the numbers:
I tend to get an initial burst of 400k+ dps but even out at around 260k in long fights (6+ minutes). This is higher the less mobile the target is. In yesterday’s run of EN, I was 2nd on dps on Nythendra (255k), 1st on Ursoc (270k), 5th on Il’gynoth (200k and having to constantly change targets; also only used the macro on the heart), 4th on dragons (240k), died stupidly on Renferal (so no data on this), 2nd on Cenarius (250k) and 4th on Xavius (240k, lower than others as they could cleave down adds).

My total damage in the raid was around 600 million, averaging 210k dps. This is obviously due to my terrible aoe damage on adds. However, my boss damage more than made up for this.

Hope this macro helps you all out. I would love to hear the results you guys get!

Thanks again!
WannabeWannabe

Edit: How to use this macro:
-Use Regrowth
-Switch to cat form and use stealth
-Activate macro and get close to the target
-Watch your numbers grow
-Profit!

hello
looking awsome tryed on pupped !

one question whats the differnece between this two lines? "/castsequence [mod:shift] "/castsequence [nomod:shift]

does this mean if i hold shift i cast another skills? if yes in what situation should i use shift ?

and you have any good version for AOE? maybe with target switch or something ? or how you do AOE rota?

Hello Dennis,

Yes, that is what is intended. You should use it when the target is below 25% health. However, I mostly ignore it and use the first line only (as I am using AHK).

Unfortunately, I do not have an aoe macro and just tend do actually use my abilities in those cases (though it’s again mostly about making sure to have rake and rip on all targets when you have 2-5 enemies; and thrash and swipe on larger groups).

Do tell me what numbers you got on the single target dummy though!

thanks for fast anwser!

on ursoc LFR i got 270k dps and 50 mil dmg - no buff food or flask

ilvl 862
weapon rank 28
37% crit
4% haste
63% mastery

my numbers on dummy - no flask no food
burst on start to 400k-360k and then slowly drops if berserk running out
after 5 min fight i got 250k and 75 mil dmg

sometimes macro stops working in fight … need to press another GS macro to fix that issu
edit:// it looks like if [Ashamane’s Frenzy] is on cooldown and i will start the macro nothing happend after the first rake

edit:// deletet the ashamanes frenzy line in your macro

this is my dmg on dragons HEROIC ! 280k and 80 mil dmg

dmg on xavius LFR - no flask no food!
285k - 100 mil dmg - no AOE !! or dmg to adds

dmg on nytheria LFR - no flask no food

Congrats Dennis!

I can see that your stats are quite similar to mine and are getting pretty good results. That’s great!

I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t able to get the second line to work either on my macro. This line was a remnant of Grimm Greyson’s macro and I am thinking of just deleting it from this a I do not use it anyway.

it looks like if [Ashamane’s Frenzy] is on cooldown and i will start the macro nothing happend after the first rake

Yep, that tends to be the case. That’s why I mentioned in the first post that this macro is meant for bosses only and you should stop using Ashamane’s frenzy like 2 minutes before the fight starts. Removing it from the line will reduce your overall dps, but feel free to try it!

BTW, how did you put those pics here? Screenshots and snipping tool of the meters? I would love to show my own results like that, that’s why I am asking.

i dont use that shift modify line maybe i delete it by myself.

so i use Ashamane’s Frenzy] manuely on cooldown . so thats not so bad.

i make a normal screenshots ingame with the PRINT button on my keyboard
then open IrfanView or Paint and CopyPaste this recent taked screenshot in one of theese tools or opening the JPG file in my WoW screenshot folder with one of theese apps.
in theese tools i can cut out the area i only want (skada) and save it as new picture. after that i upload it on my on webserver (you can use free image hoster like imageshack.us or something similar)
to show your pics here in the thread you need to press the “img” button on top of the awnserfield here!
after pressing the “img” button you where ask to put the URL of the img in there - here you use your link to the picture! thats it!
i hope you can understand my bad englisch… i am nativ german speaker

yea this macro is so big. it tends to lock up when im off doing world quest. cause you can’t fully execute the whole macro. and it doesn’t reset it for a new mob. so i just get stuck pouncing then auto attack. /sigh

can i fix so i dont turn in to human form all the time whem im using this macro?

There is no way to “fix” that problem. If using the Bloodtalons talent, you are going to experience one of two things.

  1. You use the macro posted here (or similar) that has Regrowth in a SPECIFIC SPOT (inside of the /castsequence) to utilize it to max dps and you will pop out of cat form sometimes to cast it…(you will get better dps this way)

  2. You have Regrowth in a spot like I use in my macros that will pop it on cooldown when it procs and will never make you pop out of cat form. Yes, using this will not do more dps because it will pop Bloodtalons and you have no say to what the macro uses after hitting Regrowth.

You can’t have both. So you just have to ask yourself if you want to just let the macro do all the work and pop Regrowth so you never leave cat form and do just less damage or chance popping out of cat form and having to stand still to cast it and do just more damage.

Hi all, sorry for the late reply. Was busy with some work and did not get the time to respond here until now.

Thanks for your response Dennis, I will do that the next time I want to add pics to my posts!

Hello Jan, do note that this is a very specialised macro and is not meant for random worldquests (except the high health world bosses). You should use a more simplified macro posted by other users for that.

can i fix so i dont turn in to human form all the time whem im using this macro?

I’m waiting someone to fix this too ???

Hello Xjerze and Marcos, Spitz has explained why that will not be possible above very well. To add to his response, I would like to say that I tend to come out of feral form 3-4 times in a raid boss fight. This would be mainly due to boss mechanics requiring positional changes but also, on the rare case, on the fact that you do not get crits and end up not getting a free regrowth. I am alright with this as this has a very low chance based on you crit rating (be sure to have it at more than 40% for this macro to work effectively). Again, the chance of this happening is around 10% of times during the Savage roar casting sequence.

On a side note, the change from healing touch to regrowth has actually reduced the time you spend channeling when you are unlucky with combo points. This means that the downtime has reduced by almost a full second each time you shift forms. Hence I have noticed smaller drops in dps whenever I shift forms due to bad luck or mechanics. At worst, these cases lead to a 5k dps drop overall each time they happen.

Do respond if you have any more questions!

With a crit food buff (only thing I had) and agility flask I was hitting 256 - 261 on training dummy. This was done one three separate tests of 6 minutes each. Cat Form, Ashmane’s Frenzy, Berserk are Set on a separate macro. So when its time I simply tap that button or if I get stuck out of cat form when applying regrowth.

Ilvl 853

By the way… THANKS!!!

Hi Figol,

Thank you for your response. I’m glad you got some good numbers!

I am going to try testing with Ashamane’s frenzy out of the macro as well. However, that would remove the need to have such a long macro as most of the sequences are repeating themselves. This macro was designed to take into account external buffs like bloodlust. Hence the Ashamane’s frenzy stays off cd for 15 secs sometimes. However, I have found it quite reliable myself. I was even almost matching the dps of ilvl 877s on Odyn and Guarm with my ilvl of 863.

Thanks again!

weirdly it works fine on a dummy, but in raid it seems to get stuck. It seems to “unstick” after ashmane cooldown is over and fires off and then the macro seems to pick up where it left off.

IMO it’s best to take AF out of the cast sequence and put it on a line by itself…I say just below Tigers Fury:

"/cast [combat] Ashamane's Frenzy",

After playing around a bit more here’s what I’ve come up with.

Per Spitz’z suggestion I put Ashmane’s Frenzy on a separate line.
If the macro seems to stick I tap my cat form hotkey F2 to pop in and out of cat form and my numbers go up.

Machine gun spamming this macro is not your friend. It skips abilities and you lose DPS. I run Razer Synapse and set this a macro on key 1.
Down 1
.050 delay
Up 1
0.250 delay

I’m now less likely to pop out of cat form or hang up and I’m consistent at 275k-280k.

My stats:
ilvl 864
weapon rank 27
33% crit
26% haste
49% mastery

This macro works decent. The problem I found though is when you exit combat and have to re-engage a new mob, if ashmane’s frenzy is not off cd than the macro locks and you are up river with no paddle.

Put Ashmanes’s Frenzy on it’s own line as per the comments above.

Hi is it possible u could remake the complete macro with the AF separately? when i try to do it myself on GS the macro doesnt wanna work…
