Cym's Defile Build

Hey Cym, do you test these macros everytime for five minutes ? Because i think this could be a little bit to far from real conditions, since myth+ is all about AOE burst.

Also do simulate your talents before, or do you just choise the talents because they worked the best in practice? I know you test these macros a lot and these are working the best for you. No offense, i just want these infos to get a idea where i stand (since every one have dif. legis and stats).

I will test these macros some hours and also try diff. talents - this description sound great from me (wowhead) “Epidemic is by far the best talent in this tier for any sort of mass burst aoe. Few abilities from any class compete with this. The usage of this talent is debatable and changes on an encounter by encounter basis.”

Have a nice evening,

Max

I will start in the middle of your questions and say I only have 2 legendary items. They are not the best but I use them for both Blood and Unholy. They are the helm and the boots and I have nothing else to help my dos or rotation. Because of the helm and the increased drop rate, I wanted to play with Defile as I thought it would be underused and only good with AoE and mythic+. I didn’t think it would become a strong build but looks like more and more are using Defile.

As to sims, I do sim all my chars, before I make a macro and choose a talent build because I want to know what to aim for in dps. I then set the sim not at Elite but Good which is still at 95% parses. However I know also to take sims with a grain of salt since I can never match the “perfect” scenario of skill snappping.

Then I will spend a lot of time putting the rotation together skill at a time and moving them around then get frustrated that by moving one skill up in priority I have lost a ton of dps with nothing gained like runic regen.
I have now exceeded the sim numbers by 200k for that build I now pkay with talents moving 1 talent every 5 min testing some are increase some are decrease some are no change but while I can be happy with it on a dummy I still have 3 things to test before I consider posting it.

I take it for a spin in both raid and dungeon settings. Dungeons I am always top 2. Raids I am always top 7 above higher ilvl chars but the true test is in ST damage and find I lag behind a different build setup Unholy DK but not by much, maybe a million in damage but im still ok with it then I will post as is and suggest its best for mythics vs raiding.

So to answer, I sim, time test and put into practice, I also leave the original skill names in so you can alter talents. I encourage you to make the changes you want to make to it and make it your or to even build on whats put out. Its also why I say for this I am not following a specific build because the output was not there…

I have tried several of the macros here for unholy to include this one and your Dark Arbiter Build. My leggos aren’t that great either. They are two that can cross both frost and unholy. I believe the trinket and ring . I’m wearing 4 piece T20 and 2 piece T19. I do pretty well with the defile build. I can burst up to about 1.4 mil without pots or food and settle to about 860k on raiding dummy at over 5mins. However, I still find that I’m behind some other Unholy DKs in raids I’ve been in that are doing 100K+ more. Where festering wounds are typically second or third on there damage output it’s usually sixth on mine. Meaning it generally take a bit to work up at least 6 festering wounds to pop the relic weapon ability. It seems there is a loss in dps here some where. This isn’t the case in your Dark Arbiter Build but the burst and level out dps is much lower. Like you, I tried to add another festering strike, which worked but it did drop the dps. I’m not sure of the fix if there needs to be one but I believe festering wounds should be up as much as possible for the dot. Of course, this could be due to limited leggos.

DA build is awkward to use because you need to many procs to be able to effectively use her properly.

If this build needs changed in order to try and make it more effective then i am more than happy to try again, or if anyone has suggestions or has a better idea for it then i am willing to listen.

I can very easily put in quick wound generation and i have done on previous testing but the DPS was lacking to what is in the live build.

The things that are low on this is build up of wounds… it is good later in the rotation and you have a good amount of wounds but then you’re not bursting enough with SS.

I messed around with the macros a little more. Worried about messing it up too much as 850k isn’t anything to sneeze at. But I placed an extra Festering Strike after the second Death and Decay. FYI, I’m using the one with the extra DND in it. On the raiding training dummy not food or pots, I was able to burst to over 1.4 mil and settled down to 980k. I ran the macro for about 13 mins to fire off Army twice. So, it looks like I was able to pickup about an extra 100k+ with extra festering wounds. It also made firing off Apocalypse easier as there were over 6-7 wounds up.

I tried it more at the start to try and give a boost into Apoc right at the start, didn’t think to maybe add it after a DND but more with Scourge… Did it give you the increase in festering on your meter for damage?

The one thing i then worry about is Rune Spend and Regen but if you ran it for 13 mins without an issue i will test it and update the macro with it.

Thanks for the feedback and testing
