hello, just wanted to say thank you for the macro and the time you put in to it. I am testing it out this morning, and so far no lock ups and is running smooth. Although i had one question, could you post the link to the talent build for this macro so that we can import it? I was using another but this one i think is a bit better. Nice Job!
I think this has potential, but you will need to add in more Void Metamorphosis to avoid missing Collapsing Star casts. As it is now, it is taking too long to cycle through back to the ability to fire it off during the window. I am getting about 79.10% of SIM if I intervene to make sure Collapsing Star gets cast, and would be much lower without. Maybe try putting it after the first & second Consume blocks.
When I look at the Devourer itself, it is one of the simplest specs to play. It is almost on the same level as a Beast Mastery Hunter in terms of straightforward gameplay. For this spec you mainly use four keys: Void Ray, Consume, Reap, and Metamorphosis. Metamorphosis of course changes into Collapsing Star, but that is beside the point.
What I am trying to say is that with the sequence you provided, after testing it in a +2 Mythic, you end up spending far too much time casting Consume even when Void Ray is already available. The same thing happens when you have enough essence to go into Metamorphosis and start using Collapsing Star. You often end up casting Consume four or five times before you even begin using your main damage abilities, which are Void Ray and Collapsing Star. Since you want to use those as often as possible, that extra time on Consume feels like wasted potential.
The best way I have found to make sequences like this flow more smoothly is to add modifiers. For example, while everything else is happening, you could press shift to activate Void Ray, or press ctrl at 50 to enter Metamorphosis. Pressing ctrl again could then cast Collapsing Star. Having two separate modifier keys to trigger the spec’s main abilities tends to feel much cleaner, and I am sure people would see a noticeable improvement in their overall DPS.
As far as I know, the Devourer does not have separate Mythic Plus and single-target builds, although I would need to double-check that.
Overall, the sequence is not bad, but it is not amazing either. It could definitely use some tweaks to reduce the number of Consume casts. Removing one or two of the Consume blocks that are not really needed would likely help. That is my feedback based on what you provided.
100% correct. That might be the only way to do it since Consume and Void Ray are channeled abilities and to avoid have Void Ray cut short. Otherwise it will spam Consume like you said. Other macros have found a way around this by inserting unneccesary conditional abilities like The Hunt, Blur, or the melee abilities which are not optimal for the pure caster builds this spec is best at.
