what is the best pet for a BM hunter ?
The only 2 pets i switch between are the ones with heroism and battle rez. Quilen and Nether Ray for me.

I use the dino from SOO for tanking
I use a wide variety of pets, simply because I like variety. I prefer smaller pets and mechanicals so I most often use the mechanical bunny and Nutz. I am not sold on the spirit beast heal in the sense that it is all that favorable for surival, but I use them for looks.
I also have in my back pocket a brez pet and a lust pet, just in case they are needed. I also have a tank pet, one that has an ability to reduce damage.
