update 3/3/25: Here’s the update for patch 11.1 which changes up both the talents and the gse sequence according to what’s recommended for M+
By having spells in the wow macro, before or after the /click command to trigger GSE, it is possible to get gse to function similar to how it used to (albeit with some added limitations within GSE).
Important:
go to GSE options - TroubleShooting - turn off ActionButtonUseKeyDown, otherwise gse macro won’t fire off using this macro set.
troubleshooting
LUA ERROR NIL VALUE- That means you don’t know all of the spells that I added within GSE.
Make sure you’re using all the same talents I have shared and the error should go away (passive talents don’t matter as much)
If Leveling, download bug sack and bug grabber addons so you don’t get spammed with popups. Once you learn all the required spells, the error should go away. Alternatively, you can also go to GSE-MACRO_NAME - tab:‘1’ - disable all spell blocks containing a spell you don’t know - save. You can always go back into gse and reenable them when those spells are learned.
This is made for the English version of WoW. If you are using a different language, you will have to manually translate the spells to the language of WoW you are using.
Talents:
open the talent tree and import the following if you want to use the same talents as me:
talents are based off of what is suggested here: Frost Death Knight PvE Guide For Mythic+
usage: press shift to spam howling blast, ctrl to spam obliterate, and alt to cast deathstriker.
note: howling blast and obliterate are there for increased control but will also cast on their own if you don’t want to use modifiers. Death strike is there for self healing if need be.
import the following code into gse, but do not keybind it. (The /click MACRO_NAME line in the wow macro is what tells the gse macro with the same name: MACRO_NAME to fire off instead of keybinding the gse macro itself)
I had to look up what you meant by BoS, but from I see, I don’t really have a good way of maintaining it, at least through the way I create gse macros. I’m sldo not all that familiar with the death knight at the moment.
hmm… From the looks of this site: Frost Death Knight PvP Guide For RBG it looks like there may be other viable alternatives to BoS depending on preferred content that may play a little nicer with gse. I may try and mess around with it this weekend to see what I can come up with.
Hey bud love the build, but can you link one that works without breath, or instead works with frostwyrm’s fury? Will this work with other wowhead, or icyveins talent builds? Also. Is this build geared towards a 2h or dual wield? Thanks!
Alright, I finally got around to making an update to this. Turns out that the popular spec for pvp at https://murlok.io/ seems to play a lot nicer with how I create gse macros over using BoS.
AS for weapon choice, it looks like 2h is simming better for me than dual wealding.
Hey there really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I’m not one for PVP, but would this also work with mythic, and delves? I have been using a 2H with this and do enjoy it, but as I said. I’ve always preferred frost wrym over breathe.
Did you by chance update the talent link at the top? The link to murlok just goes to the landing page. If you could share the talent load out that would be awesome. Thanks again!
I’m sure it would work fine for mythic plus, though that’s coming from someone who doesn’t have any interest or experience with m+. That said, it does seem to perform well on delves, at least it performed well for me running a level 4 delve in 550 gear on my death knight.
All the skills I have on the modifiers either already cast automatically, or for death strike is best used manually when you need a little extra self healing. Not using the mods for this macro shouldn’t hurt your dps by much if you don’t want to/can’t use mods.
i have gotten the macro to fire and it works good I just cant figure out how to get the modifiers to work I put it on my hotbar and keybind that spot to my mouse button and it fires the main part fine but when I hold a mod key like shift the icon changes to howling blast but will not fire it, but if I hold shift then mouse click the icon it will cast it not sure what’s happening there . I named the macro MACRO_NAME not sure what it should be named but I tried a few things like SCG_FRO , GSE-MACRO_NAME to see if the name was the problem but did not appear to be that, I am missing something though
Chances are you have the key combo reserved for a different spell/hotbar which will take precedence over using a modifier. Easiest way around it without having to remove your other keybindings would be to go to the wow/options/keybinding, find the button you’re using the macro on, then assign a second key to trigger that button (example: for me I have the macro button assigned to action button 3 and will trigger when I press ‘3’. However, it will also trigger when I press ‘[’. Once done, then reprogram what you use to rapid fire that button to click ‘[’ instead. If done correctly, the modifiers should trigger no problem without having to worry about some other button keybound to the same combo (aka ‘ctrl-3’) taking precedence over a modifier when you click that key combo.
I got it to work by binding mb5 , Shift mb5 , Crtl mb5 , Alt mb5 on a hotbar then putting the macro in each one . but after reading your response I deleted those keybinds and it works now so it must have been conflicted somewhere before I changed them
Easiest way would be to do what your asking is to once you switch to Rider of the Apocolypse, then inside GSE, find and replace Reaper’s Mark spell, with Light’s judgement, and click save.
