SCG-Single button frost mage level 80 version 11.0.5 update: 11/10/2024

If you like my macros, and want to provide me with some financial incentive to keep this and other macros updated, you can do so here: Paypal

This macro set is pretty straight forward. Since there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between ST and AOE (apart from blizzard which works better when fired manually as far as I know), I decided to create a single macro set that encompasses both ST and AOE situations.

update 11/10/24 I decided to make a few tweaks to the gse sequence so that this plays a little more smooth.

Important:

  1. go to GSE options - TroubleShooting - turn off ActionButtonUseKeyDown, otherwise gse macro won’t fire off using this macro set.

troubleshooting

  1. BROKEN MACRO error on Different spec: gse - MACRO_NAME - Disable Sequence - save
  2. BROKEN MACRO error same spec: GSE-MACRO_NAME - tab:‘1’ - disable all spell blocks containing a spell you don’t know - save
  3. This is made for the English version of WoW. If you are using a different language, you will have to manually translate the spells to the language of WoW you are using.

Talents:

open the talent tree and import the following if you want to use the same talents as me:

CAEAjd9IgsSkCmGQ8vOmZtyV7MzYzsZBzwYWM8AmZmGjxYmZwwMMzMzMzMzMzMzYmZGzABABMzstssNz0GAAAAAAsAAAAAAAAA

SCG_FROST

  1. copy the following macro, paste it in game as a new macro, and drag the icon to the cast bar to be spammed there.
##showtooltip
/cleartarget [dead]
/targetenemy [noharm][dead]
/cast [mod:shift] Flurry
/cast [mod:ctrl,@cursor] Blizzard
/cast [mod:alt] Ice Lance
/click [nochanneling] SCG_FROST
/cast [nochanneling] Glacial Spike

usage: press shift to cast flurry (will eventually cast on its own if ignored), aim cursor and press ctrl to cast flurry, press alt to cast shifting power.

  1. import the following code into gse, but do not keybind it.

This is fantastic, thank you so much!

A lot of people find having a macro button to press/click is a lot more accessible than keybinding the gse macro. Plus, I prefer doing it this way as it feels closer to the way gse used to work, specifically, being able to have a number of commands that will always try to fire off first before the before the /click command, then also have a spell, or even a castsequence set of spells placed after the /click command that can also still be cast if the gse tick doesn’t cast anything. Anyway, that’s sort of the idea behind the macro sets I’ve done so far. From what I’ve done, this method seems to benefit greatly for some classes, like my feral and balance druid macros for example, but not quite as effective on some other classes, like this one.

Edit Just realised your macro doesnt work to show the next spell in the sequence either. Do you know of a way to make this work? Apparently Actionbar Override in 3.2.12-b can do it somehow?

Mate, I tried to take your design and apply it to my guardian druid. Basic GSE sequence with just Thrash, Mangle, Thrash, Mangle (to test and get started) and I call the sequence from a macro, which I put into actionbar1.

For some reason it just refuses to show the spell being cast. Showtooltip is there, it works on my mage. Almost the same configuration, massively stripped down though for troubleshooting. The sequence works, I just can’t get it to show tooltips properly. Any ideas?

It’s like that for me too, and I think that is the result of the changes Blizzard made on what addons are able to do.

Then again, I wonder if the macro might show the spells within gse if you moved Ice Lance from within the wow macro, and added it to a couple blocks inside gse instead.

I like this so much better, since I already have my mouse set up to spam “1” or “2”… If I keybind them I loose the binding for the actionbar which then makes me loose vehicle control or other abilities that makes the actionbar switch.

I’ve been using TrufiGCD addon to see whats being casted, unfortunately it won’t show you the next que’d spell.

Love this Macro helps me so much

Talents wont import not sure whats going on

I haven’t leveled this character past 70 yet, so I don’t yet have any hero talents to share. If you would like recommendations for hero talents, I recommend checking out wowhead or icy-veins.

Thank for no key bind

Macro only casts shifting power that’s it, I also get the chat error. “Unkown macro option: Shift Power”

Shifting power should only be getting cast when you press alt plus the spam key button. If it’s only casting shifting power, then the only way I can see that happening is if you’re using that specific key combo to fire off the macro. If you have the macro dragged to the cast bar, go to game menu/options/keybindings, find the button you’re using for the macro (for me it’s ‘3’ for single target, and ‘ctrl 3’ for AOE). Once you find the action buttons you’re using, you can add a second keybind to those buttons. For me, my ‘3’ button is also bound to ‘[’ and ‘ctrl3’ button is also bound to ‘]’. From there I use a programmable mouse that spams ‘[’ when one button is held down, and ‘]’ when the other button is held down effectively firing off the macro without having to worry about having another keybind that happens to be using the same keybind (example: ctrl 3) overriding one of the modifiers.

One more thing regarding your alt button: go to game menu/options/combat and switch self cast to off, followed by auto, to make sure your alt key isn’t being used as your self cast key.

Also, make sure you do this, if you didn’t already.

I forgot they added a chat/dm feature. I Sent you a DM

This got the addon to work! Thank you. However, Now its spamming an error constantly as the macro goes off. Want me to past it here?

Good to hear. Are you leveling up? if so, you can go into gse and disable any spells you don’t know yet to clear up any errors. (instructions on my main post) Otherwise I’d get the addons bugsack and buggrabber to make errors less intrusive, and the macro should start producing less errors as you level up and learn the spells that the macro needs in order to function properly without disabling anything.

Yeah lvl 78 right now, but only your fire macro is throwing errors. I have bugsacks. I can send you the errors if you want?

ah. having macros that is for a different spec than what you are currently using enabled can also throw errors. Your choices are to disable any macro you aren’t using, or to ignore the errors until (or if) the creator of this addon is able to figure out a solution to the error. Bug reports should go to the creator of the addon if submitted at all.

I am using Frost Mage and get the following errors. I am in my 70’s(years) and cannot see where to fix the error.
[21:18:08] BROKEN MACRO MAGEARCANEOB was unable to be programmed. This macro will not fire until errors in the macro are corrected.
[21:18:08] Interface/AddOns/GSE/API/Storage.lua:523: attempt to index local ‘spellinfo’ (a nil value)
