Community Guidelines & The “Don’t Be Stupid” Clause
Welcome to WoW Lazy Macros. We’ve been helping the WoW community build macros for over 21 years. Before you dive in, here’s the stuff you need to know to keep yourself (and this community) out of trouble.
The Big One: Bots, Automation & Third-Party Tools
Let’s be crystal clear:
WoW Lazy Macros does not endorse, promote, or encourage the use of automation that violates Blizzard’s Terms of Service.
We provide tools and education. What you do with them is on you.
What’s OK:
- Using GSE macros (it’s a legit addon)
- One keypress = one action
- Hardware macro keys on your keyboard/mouse
- Learning how macros work
What will get you banned (not by us, by Blizzard):
- Fully automated rotation bots
- Software that plays while you’re AFK
- Key broadcasting to multiple game clients
- Anything that removes the “human” from the equation
The Knife Maker Analogy:
We build tools. A knife maker isn’t responsible if someone cuts themselves - or worse. We provide the kitchen knife; don’t go commit crimes with it.
AHK, keyboard repeat software, low-ms spamming? That’s a gray area that’s YOUR responsibility to navigate. We’re not your parents, your lawyers, or Blizzard’s enforcement team. Use common sense. If it feels like cheating, it probably is.
If you get banned, that’s between you and Blizzard. We can’t help you, won’t appeal for you, and told you so right here.
Community Rules
1. Don’t Be a Dick
Simple. Disagree? Cool. Be an asshole about it? Not cool. We’re all here because we love the game (or loved it, or hate-love it - we don’t judge).
2. Help Each Other
Someone’s asking a “dumb” question? They were you once. Either help or scroll past. No need to flex your big brain energy on newbies.
3. Share Knowledge, Not Drama
Got beef with another site, addon dev, or community? Handle it elsewhere. This isn’t the place for faction wars (the real-life kind).
4. Credit Where It’s Due
Sharing someone else’s macro? Credit them. Modifying someone’s work? Say so. Don’t be that guy who copy-pastes and claims it as their own.
5. No Selling, No Scams
This isn’t a marketplace. Don’t sell gold, boosts, accounts, “premium macros,” or your grandma’s cookies. Free help, free tools, free community.
6. Keep It Legal
No hacks, exploits, private server promotion, or anything that’ll get Blizzard’s lawyers excited. We like existing.
7. English Please (Mostly)
Our primary language is English. We can’t moderate what we can’t read. International folks are welcome - just know the main discussions happen in English.
About the Tools
The tools at tools.wowlazymacros.com are:
- Free to use
- Provided “as-is”
- Not a substitute for reading GSE documentation
- Not guaranteed to make you a gladiator (sorry)
Found a bug? Report it in the forums. Don’t DM me on Discord at 3am asking why your Frost Mage macro isn’t parsing purple. I have kids.
