5.2 Survival Fully Working with Lock and Load!

Testing. I want feedback from the community too, not just myself doing all the testing. I put DB in there because it’s a focus gain, but a DPS loss after running numbers.

ToTH is a DPS gain because it reduced Arcane Shot’s focus by 20.

If you noticed I haven’t put Barrage in the macro yet because right now I feel it to be a DPS loss.

With BA being first: 85-88k DPS

With ExoShot being first: 110-125k DPS

I also removed Dire Beast as well. Dire Beast doesn’t do much damage for Survival Hunters. My normal pet crits for 14k where as my Dire Beast will crit for 18k. 4k damage while might seem like a lot, it’s not especially when you’re hitting for 100k ES.

Here is the modified macros.

Single Target

/castsequence reset=target Serpent Sting,null

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,0,0,0,Explosive Shot

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,0,0,Black Arrow

AoE

/castsequence reset=target Serpent Sting,null

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,0,0,0,Explosive Shot

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,0,0,Black Arrow

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,0,Kill Shot

/castsequence reset=0.5 0,0,Glaive Toss

/cast [combat] Stampede

/use [combat] 13

/use [combat] 14

/startattack

I also added Stampede. While it’s best to do during Hero / Lust it is perfectly fine to use it at the beginning of a fight too. Most fights in ToT are over 5 minutes (Horridon is easily a 10 minute fight).

what did you put in the place of dire beast in your talents if you took it out?
[/quote] ok tested it on my hunter he is ilvl 515 and i did tortos and started off at 128k dps and evened out to 137k. awsome macro ty

Do you keep the first post updated? Is that the one we should be using?

How can I make a macro that will fire Glaive Toss if it is up, but if not, it will only fire Arcane Shot?

I don’t see a place to edit my post. But, I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I have these addons installed;
MacroBank
WoWLazyMacros
MacroToolKit

I type “/m”
In MacroBank, I click “Create”. I enter the Temporary Description and the Temporary Name. I copy and paste the Macro provided on the first page.

I click “Load”. The Macro is now found on the default Blizzard macros. I drag it to my toolbar and start dpsing, but it rarely casts ES and Casts Cobra Shot instead.

moon i tested your single macro on my new hunter and i tweaked it a bit.
here is what i came up with

/startattack
/petattack
/castsequence reset=target/ALT Serpent Sting,null
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,2,3,Kill Shot
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,2,Explosive Shot
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,Black Arrow
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,Blink Strike
/castsequence reset=5 Arcane Shot,Arcane Shot,Cobra Shot

i am lvl 85 with 309 item lvl and i did from 13.5k-14.3k

u will see the blink strike in there cause if i use the MoC it will focus starve and u will see serpent sting fall of the target.

u will also see 2 arcane shots instead of one cause i wanted to take advantage the thrill of the hunt passive. i would put 3 in there but again drains focus plus u have less time to cast black arrow and explosive shot so u lose dps instead of gaining.

i will go on with this for now to see how it goes and if nothing changes and i do better dps with this i will put Glaive Toss in there making it look like this.

/startattack
/petattack
/castsequence reset=target/ALT Serpent Sting,null
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,2,3,4,Kill Shot
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,2,3,Explosive Shot
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,2,Black Arrow
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,1,Blink Strike
/castsequence reset=0.5 0,Glaive Toss
/castsequence reset=5 Arcane Shot,Arcane Shot,Cobra Shot

any suggestions are welcome and i hope i helped.

Not sure if this macro was working before or but i really don’t see a way for a macro to say “Ok lock and load is on proc, let’s fire it.” Plus it’s not pulling the DPS stated otherwise.

I’ll test this out either later tonight or tomorrow after servers come back online. Looks good to me though.

After testing it does pretty good. Glaive Toss though barely goes off though.

Your Macro: 78k DPS on a dummy (512 Item Level)
My Macro: 120k DPS on a dummy (512 Item Level)

With both macros I do notice my focus is nearly at the top, and almost never goes down. Blink Strike is good, but in terms of pure raw damage it doesn’t come close to A Murder of Crows.

Blink Strike: ~80k
A Murder of Crows: ~461k

In DPS, Blink Strike is a better talent, in raw damage output A Murder of Crows is the better talent.

I did a Blink Strike and Murder of Crows dps test and they are the same dps over the 2 minute CD of MoC. Blink Strike does indeed do around 80k every 20 seconds which = 480k over the 2 minute CD period of MoC.

Not too sure what you mean by raw damage because to my mind 6 casts of BS is equal to one MoC as far as damage goes - it’s all raw damage, the only difference I see is BS has to be cast 6 times to match 1 cast of MoC.

I do think though BS is the better talent because of the frequency of which you can use it. I remember when using MoC that so many times half the duration was lost due to the mob dying. There is absolutely no waste with BS.

While true that it’s not wasted DPS versus AMOC. AMOC on a boss though is overall better as it’s affected by your attack power, crit rating, and haste rating. For BM Hunters, Mastery plays a factor into AMOC as well.

Blink Strike on the other hand plays nicer with BM again by it’s mastery like Kill Command does. AMOC does do well as well, whereas Lynx Rush does really well, if your pet isn’t jumping around like a monkey and falling off a cliff because he / she can’t keep themselves in control. Maegera is a perfect example of this.

AMOC at 90 and in my item level does about 50-60k per tick, where as Blink Strike will hit for about 30k, and crit for a lot higher (I did see a 78k crit with Blink Strike), but overall my DPS was lower.

Now that the patch is out I’ll do some more testing again, also Blink Strike is now a passive talent and should be affected by your crit and haste more so now than mastery.

So in 5.2, AMOC was overall a better talent especially on bosses, in 5.3 Blink Strike might be the better talent because it’s passive. Also this will allow Dire Beast back into the rotation too now for Survival, which is supposed to get a boost from attack power too.

Lots of things to test out this week.

i do not question your results cause i am still 85lvl.
may be it is me but if i use moc instead of blink that uses focus it is starving and after 3-4 secs in battle i am out of focus, so i have to wait for it to fill up.
as for the GLAVE TOSS i will let u know at 90 :stuck_out_tongue:

Also just to let you know Bab, Haste affects your focus regen too. I know during Hero my focus regen is through the roof.

After doing some testing with the new patch both mine and yours were about equal. Yours did higher burst DPS at the start of the fight though.

Also a note on the new Blink Strike talent it seems like this will be the new go to talent for all Hunters. Your pets DPS increases big time with it.

So after doing tons of research, it seems like this:

BM = Dire Beast + Blink Strike
Surv = Fervor / Thrill of the Hunt + Blink Strike

aMOC does a little more in DPS but it’s very minimal for the focus cost. Right now, aMOC is doing about 1% more DPS than Blink Strikes over a sustained amount of time. 1% isn’t very much especially when you have a high focus cost.

If you want to stick with aMOC the suggestion is this:

BM / Surv = Fervor + aMOC.

If you do take aMOC you can’t use Thrill of the Hunt, the reason behind it is to pop Fervor right before you do aMOC so that you have the focus to use it.

Hi, it’s just me or Glaive Toss wont work anymore after the last patch?

Silly question maybe but how to do get that all to fit in the macro window when its only 255 charaters

Works fine for me.

Use an addon like SuperDuperMacro or Macro Toolkit.

Info found here: Macro Toolkit , new SDM replacement and much more - User Interface Add-ons - WoW Lazy Macros

is there a way to adapt this for a survival hunter with level 85? im not getting much when i remove the things i can’t do. maybe 20k sometimes.

I think you get the majority of the skills before 85 (minus Glaive Toss). Your DPS will suffer because you don’t have the gear.
