If the macro isn’t trying to heal, I need to know what changes you made to it or what errors you are seeing to have an idea why that would be the case.

As for @Duskypouncer that error looks like you’re trying to run a script via the macro and it’s not working. Are you using my macro unmodified?


In update news, with 8.1 we have a change to Power Word: Shield that, in preliminary testing, is a great change for us. I have a macro update, but the site's spam feature is preventing me from updating the OP. I'll take this as an opportunity to play with the macro a bit more and when I can I'll post it here.

Update!

I’m actually really happy about this update. It’s such a simple change, but our quality of life just improved drastically.

With the introduction of Weakened Soul to prevent Power Word: Shield from being cast on the same target for 7.5 seconds, the spell has its own cooldown again. It’s an artificial one, meaning that PW:Shield doesn’t actually have a cooldown it’s just prevented, but it’s a better artificial cooldown than the one I had to use in the macro.

In other words, PW:Shield will now cast more often, closer to when Weakened Soul expires, AND if your enemy aggros multiple party or raid members you will shield them automatically much faster. No more having to wait on three Smite casts for your next shield to cast on its own, which means much less having to use my second Healing macro to shield people manually. Universal should take care of it for you.

For anyone new to my macros, this is how I suggest to use them with this new change:

  1. Focus your tank. (You can target them directly, or mouseover them, but focus is easier and lets you react faster).
  2. (Optional) Tap EX_DiscHeal_BfA once to pre-shield your tank before a pull.
  3. Lean on Ex_DiscDPS_Universal_BfA. Eat a sandwich. Drink a soda. Read a little Pride and Prejudice. Just don’t let go of Ex_DiscDPS_Universal_BfA.
  4. If your Demon Hunter party member happens to steal aggro from the tank, see number 3. Ex_DiscDPS_Universal_BfA should shield him within 2 GCDs.
  5. Use EX_DiscHeal_BfA on team members (via mouseover) if you need to put out a bunch of shields at once OR use Ex_DiscAoE_BfA if you need to Atone them all at once.
  6. Repeat 3.
  7. (If the damage is too much) Use ALT+EX_DiscHeal_BfA to direct heal your tank.
  8. (After the fight) Use ALT+EX_DiscHeal_BfA to patch up your team.

I run everything at 30 because I’m insane.

Works great when i use purge the wicked but mid raid if I switch to Halo it gets stuck casting the same thing over and over burning through my mana…sorry that I have not checked what its casting but its during progression raids so i just switch back to purge the wicked so we can get back to killing bosses.

Not sure what’s up with that. I switch out with Halo all the time. But, I do prefer Purge when it comes to how the macro performs (we’re not tab-targeting much)

Check GSE’s option for Gameplay Options -> Prevent Sound Errors. That’s my guess. Assuming my macro is unaltered in any way.

Hey EnixLHQ, I love your work and it is awesome work at that. I do get some errors with EX_DISCDPS_UNIV_BFA. I’ve posted the messages im getting without the long ass stack text, although I can if you need more info. Again its only with the dps version of the macro unedited. the heal and aoe heal do not cause me errors. Just curious to your insight on what I can fix to get it to stop aside from doing /console scriptErrors 0 and hitting ignore when it tells me an addon is causing a multitude of errors. Thank you for your time. Prevent sound, ui, and clear errors are ticked in GSE also.

Ok, I think I figured it out. the issue is GSE. First, I ensured the latest version available from curse forge was installed. It was but did it again anyway (errors still). Second, I deactivated all addons except GSE (errors still). Third, I unticked Prevent Sound Errors, Prevent UI Errors, and Clear Errors. Then I tried each one individually. No errors received with Clear Errors, nor with Prevent UI Errors but when Prevent Sound Errors was ticked, errors occurred instantly on use of macro. I then tried all other macros with said test runs to ensure that it was not just the macro I mentioned above and results were all the same. So with that said I did some google searching and found that its a result of a code string that is unfinished or conflicting with itself. Is there a way to bring this to Timmothy’s attention?

Let me preface this by saying I take no credit for Enix’s macro(s) obviously. However, if you were like me and kept having your Sound Effects in WoW turned off by the Discipline Universal macro, I have redone it as an alternative. I should add here that I was experiencing this sound issue only when Prevent Sound Errors is/was on in GSE; if that option was unchecked/off, I had no errors and/or issues with the Universal macro.

If you were having that same problem, please try the below macro out and provide me some feedback. Again, it’s all editing done to Enix’s own macro to try and make it work. You might encounter one or multiple errors, however they should not interfere with function and more importantly should not turn off your sound effects when Prevent Sound Errors is activated through GSE.

Never understood why some people got sound errors with this particular macro. I never did, nor did any of my testers. Must be some other add-on or configuration I never found the root of.

Eh, anyway, good on you for solving the problem. Always good to see new coders coming in and crafting solutions. You’ll be needed in the new expansion.

Oh, not dead, by the way. Just barely play anymore. I log in maybe once a month (not enough to keep me from getting kicked from my guild, apparently), and plan on coming back for Shadowlands. I’ll tackle these macros then if the gameplay requires it. Likely after I get my DH through the content first.

Anyone play Age of Sigmar? Yeah, I do that now. Legion of Grief. Good stuff.
