Shadopan Defensive still best after this coming changes?

Master of Harmony: Meditative Focus now increases damage dealt by Tiger Palm by an additional 50% (was 100%).

Master of Harmony: Aspect of Harmony stores vitality based on 12% of damage done, and 6% of effective healing (was 25% and 12%).

It only affects the damage, not the survivability, but it’s a big nerf to Master of Harmony’s damage. They basically just reverted the last buff they gave to the harmony spec

I don’t know if I am doing something wrong. The macro works really well, however, I get to 20 stacks on the raiding dummy in Silvermoon using the SP defensive version. How on earth do you get to 117 stacks? SP is supposed to be 10% more tanky baseline vs MoH right? Not sure what I am doing wrong.
This is a nerf. A big one. So there is no question now, Shado Pan is king for now.
That was at the end of the S3- pre-patch. Now we’re basically naked gear wise, but that’s pretty normal at the start of a new expansion
It depends on the scenario. Harmony is still better in pure single target, more or less equal to Shado-Pan in M+, and Shado-Pan is superior on 4+ targets

Max I managed to reach on Dungeoneer dummy was 42 stacks (using Harmony)
It feels pretty solid, I’m just torn between getting offensive or defensive trinkets. For example Jelly Replicator sounds greats and would add a bunch to survivability, or something that does aoe dmg to bump that dps a bit more. There’s so many ways to go about it I can’t decide.

Super interesting post! Thanks for sharing your detailed tests with us. Ye there are a lot of interesting trinket options at the moment. Usually you go for DPS trinkets at the start of the season and switch to defensive ones or stat sticks once you start pushing higher keys and begin to struggle defensively.
From what I’ve tested so far, the trinket Ultradon Cuirass is by far our best option. The amount of tankiness it provides is just insane and far above the other choices

I’ve used that one for quite a bit before getting mythic 0 gear, and I completely agree. I was virtually unkillable with it and it was when I did all those runs and tests with world gear.
So would it be better to sacrifice personal ilvl for better survivability performance with that trinket (even tho I’m pretty well off as I am) or get a dps one from mythic dungeons?

I been using the shadopan version to do all my m0 and its been amazing but wanted to test the harmony one because I heard its more tanky? I think I’m confused with it because the description makes it sound like it should be auto using your brews but I noticed it dosn’t use purifying brew or celestial infusion and wasn’t sure if that was left out on purpose and requires you to manualy hit it or not? I’m new to monk tanking so i’m still trying to learn all these new abilities and how they work haha

The Harmony one is a bit tankier ye. There are two versions for each Heroic Talent: one that only manages the DPS part, and a second one that also manages the brews. Maybe you used the DPS only sequence? The Harmony one that uses brews in automated mode is the last one

Harmony, fully automated one.
Used the SHADO-PAN DEFENSIVE VARIANT version with the talents and tanked 3 mythic 0 today with ease. Felt like the healer didn’t even have to heal me the entire time. ilvl 230 a lot of upgraded heroic gear. Was super simple and never even had to use a defensive. The three I tanked was Nexus, The Blinding Vale and Murder Row to be honest I think those three are the hardest out of the dungeons. Especially Murder Row. The ads there are crazy but this tanked it easy af. Thanks for all your hard work. Great results. I love it.
