Word of the Void

I still come in right around sims with 3121(1 or 3)1(1 or2). All four combinations. However, I hate the playstyle at the moment and I can see areas of improvement.

I’m going to do some research and try to narrow down the builds and produce a better end result. I’ll likely also reintroduce the AoE macro, as you still need to toss in some spells during an AoE encounter. I actually expect to drill down into a 3131122 build which should split ST and AoE talents nicely enough, but I’ll let the research dictate that.

Research done. Please give these two macros a shot. Please read the notes and try running them without any modifications or mod key use and let me know how they work for you. I’m seeing some great gains with these. Run with talents 3131122 in particular.

(Deleted last tests. New post for new test macros)

Following up on my test macros above, I just ran Shrine of the Storm which is an excellent test for both AoE and ST fights.

325 ilvl, Blightborn Infusion, Swirling Sands, and Thunderous Blast Azerite traits all at 325. Running talents 3131122. I sim at 5.4k (Raidbots) and 5.8k (AMR) for a no-buff, movement heavy boss encounter with occasional adds.

I did 5.3k with a team of a Paladin tank, two Hunters (one who DCed halfway through the fight, neither who interrupted the Mindbenders until, no joke, our 6th time in the shadow realm, and a druid healer.

That’s within less than 1% of RBs sims, and 8% of AMR sims. Granted, AMR doesn’t have a sim option for movement even in the boss+add fight, so if I could have stood still I could expect 400 more DPS.

I think these new macros are spot on.

New Test Macros!

Even better performance for both ST and AoE. These are candidates to replace the OP macros, so please test and give me some feedback. Please read each macro’s notes.

This new update rocks . I like it alot and it is within 1% of my sim so thumbs up to you

Wow, you’ve put a lot of work into this.
I’ve just done a quick test and right off the bat i was getting an item not ready pop up every key press. it was this part.
/use [nochanneling,combat] 13
/use [nochanneling,combat] 14

Unsure what that does, maybe trinkets? but it just kept saying item not ready.

I’ll keep testing but it looks good apart from ALT and shift keys arent working for me at the moment so I cant use them to re-dot.

Anyone have any logs for these from Uldir?

Yes, trinkets. Feel free to remove those. I have them in here like this so that the trinkets on the GCD don’t interrupt casting.

OP macros updated.

Hello EnixLHQ, I have been playing with your macro and comparing it to the varies section for shadow priest. As we know. us SP are scheduled for a rework come 8.1. With that in mind… our output is less than desirable. I have reworked your rotation and made some minor adjustments that works great for me and with the help of some WA’s I am able to crush around 9.9 to 10.5k dps (Opening around 15 to 20k) on Single target and on Multi target I am pushing 14+ to 17k (Opening around 45 to 51k this depends on pack size).

Please note that I am using the following information for stats and talent setup.
Intellect > Critical Strike > Haste > Mastery >= Versatility
Single Target Fights use talents 311?22?
Multi Target Fights use talents 313? 3or1 (depending on crit%) 2?

Not bad. You should make your own thread with this.

This macro has a lot of good potentials and looks like it would do really well during an execute phase. Our designs are very different, though. I’m moving toward a more automated model, while these would go back to requiring mod keys to be regularly used to maintain your dots. This isn’t a bad thing if it works for your play style, of course.

DPS-wise, it’s very strong.

I honestly don’t know what the hell I’m doing wrong.

I’ve been trying these shadow macro’s for weeks, in Uldir, which is my main spec, then quickly having to go back to manual. I do about 2k more DPS manually than the macro is giving. I am not nearly getting my sims. I honestly do believe its a me problem, and not the macro. With all the praise its getting I’m pretty sure the macro is just fine.

I run the talents specified in the macro.
I run at 16% crit, 12% haste, 24% mastery (hopefully this will change as I get better gear)
I am ilvl 352.
I run AHK, but I’ve also tried just smashing the button as fast as I can.
The mod doesnt work, no way, I’ve double and triple checked that its not bound anywhere else. Its certainly not. But even with manualy redotting using the MISERY talent, I get nowhere near my sims.

Getting 7.5k now on the macro, in the actual raid, with all hte pots and flasks and buffs and bloodlusts.
I sim at 10.3k on Taloc Heroic (first boss in Uldir)
Manually I’m hitting about 9.5k.

Anyone have any idea what I’m doing wrong? Or am I just expecting a macro to do the work of a bot? Like I said, either I’m wrong, or my expectation is, I’m sure the macro is close to perfect.

If you’ve grabbed the latest macros in the OP I’m currently suggesting Dark Void over Misery as these new macros are built around that now. In fact, with Misery, you’d need to use the ALT key to apply Vampiric Touch.

Other than that, you’re using AHK, but how fast are you having it repeat? The macros are set to Priority, so it will attempt from the top of the macro and might need to be set slightly faster to get through some abilities.

Minor update to the ST macro.

First, Shadow Word: Death has been added to the macro for those of you who want to take the talent. Second, Dark Void is now tied to Vampiric Touch in such a way that it should apply VT early and on every new target, despite if Dark Void is on cooldown, while still refreshing in time after DV is used. This should allow you to tab-dot new targets with SW:Pain and VT again, as well as prevent the dots from falling off of your ST without having to reapply anything manually.

Please give it a shot.

Also, I wanted to point out that my design philosophy for these macros is shifting toward a Mythic + playstyle. What I mean by that is that how they are written and the talents I suggest should excel in a place where you will be shifting between ST and AoE needs all the time. The talents are also along these lines, with some wiggle room.

For example, if you straight sim for Mythic + you should be running Fortress of the Mind, Dark Void, Shadow Crash, Mindbender, and Legacy of the Void. However, ST wants Fortress of the Mind, Twist of Fate, Shadow Word: Death, Mindbender, Dark Ascension. You can now choose either and have them work, or mix and match as you see fit.

I’m currently running 1131222 and am seeing great results. Please let me know what you think, as well.

I’ve been testing this out with questing and islands and while the DPS is great (getting 7-12k depending on Aoe/ST), VT and SW:P are getting renewed WAAAAY too often, especially with Dark Void in the ST rotation… however I am aware that it does damage when cast too. Does the damage when cast make up for the time wasted redotting?

There is also some time when the character is stood not casting anything and I get a message saying “can’t do that yet”. I’ve taken the trinkets off as I prefer to cast the cooldowns myself so it isn’t that. I’ll keep testing.

I’ll be working on this, but the damage loss should be minimal. It is always better to refresh a dot with 7 seconds or less remaining than to reapply a dot after it has fallen off. Dots, when refreshed, get their time left tacked on to the end of the new cast’s, so they get extended, but only up to a limit. As long as we’re within that limit, you’re gold. For SW:Pain that’s 5 seconds, for VT it’s 6.

As long as it’s not refreshing the dots when they are in double digits you shouldn’t be losing more than 50-60 DPS from that action.

However, this works itself out over time in the macro. Since Dark Void is what’s limiting both SW:Pain and VT it’s its cooldown that keeps everything in line. The problem is in the beginning of a fight where the dots appear, and then get refreshed almost immediately. So far I have found no way to fix this and still have the ability to tab-dot enemies, which I think is very important.

We’ll see what I can come up with later.

Hey Enix,
I don’t want to be a nag (but I am though) but…
I really do miss the weakaura’s for my priest :’(
Even if it’s a link to the old one? as my pc died and I now have a new one, I don’t have the old one either.

Gigantic Big virtual Hug in it for you?

Oh, right, that. Um…what did I have? I don’t use any so I don’t remember what I had up.

Uhmm, I don’t know either  a well, nvm. it really was just the ones to see when vt was about to fall off. I’ll have a look on wago for something.

Still a big hug for you though, love the macro’s

Hello, the other time you did something to make your maccro French and I always use. Unfortunately, your last update does not work, and I can not change them by hand.
thank you in advance

Delete my macro completely and then try to import again. I haven’t made any changes to the macro system, so translating should still work.
