Highly considering boosting a priest as my raid is stuck on 5/8 and itâs primarily because I do shit WW monk dps now since nerfs. Yeah, Iâm not giving up on the spec. Right now I think the macro is in a really great place for what we can do with Shadow. The dots will clip at the start of a fight and that can add up with a lot of smaller trash fights, but our DPS in those scenarios is so poor anyway that you really wonât notice.
However, once you make it through one cooldown of Dark Void your dots will line up and should refresh within Epidemic range, meaning they should extend the dots instead of clipping.
As far as the macro goes the three biggest problems with it are that SW:Pain and VT donât always apply as a pair which gets in the way of tab-dotting, they clip at the start of a fight, and they arenât restricted from being applied while in Voidform which means both a dot clip and a wasted GCD that could be spent on a more damaging and Insanity-generating ability.
BUT, all that being said, the macro is really close to sims and I donât think I can fix any of it without Shadow itself getting some tweaks to give me other options to play with.
Is there any way you can post your old AOE and ST macro? I just installed the new ones and mind sear and mind flay clip. But they worked fine on your old macros. Plz and ty
I just tried Shadow Whisperer by Urzulus and his mind flay worked in his macro and both yours and his are written pretty much the same. so Iâm not sure what broke it. But the old macro worked great with no clipping. Sorry I donât know much about coding all i can do is copy and paste and try to change some commands around

It is clipping, but itâs by design in most cases.
This is the body of my current macro:

/cast [combat] Dark Ascension
/castsequence [combat] Void Eruption, Mindbender
/cast [nochanneling] Mind Blast
/cast [combat,@cursor,nochanneling] Shadow Crash
/cast [nochanneling] Mind Flay
What I have it doing is that Void Eruption, Shadow Word: Death (if you take it), Dark Ascension (if you take it), Shadowfiend/Mindbender, and Shadow Crash (if you take it) will all interrupt Mind Flay.
The reason for this is that all those abilities are more powerful than a fully-used Mind Flay. In my previous version I made Mind Flay way less interruptable, but the result was that any time you cast Mind Flay whenever a more powerful ability was available you wouldnât cast it, and if you had this misfortune to cast Mind Flay again for some reason, thatâs even longer youâre not using your better abilities.
If it feels like you are losing DPS with this behavior, though, I can look into it more and see if my numbers are still correct, but as of writing this post making Mind Flay less interruptable is a DPS loss on the target dummy.

Okay, so im not really sure what or if im doing something wrong.
ive tested this almost 10 times and for some reason it seems lackluster.
It tends to keep getting stuck at Void eruption. then when it finally does get going its definitely not within 1% of what i should be doing.
using the macro i burst out at about 9.5k with a few peaks into 10k then sustain in the 8-8.4k range.
then doing the same thing by hand i burst at about 12.1k and sustain in the 9.3-9.6k range
Am i Doing something wrong?

No idea. Thatâs not a lot of information. Like, I donât know what you mean by âgetting stuck on Void Eruptionâ. Itâs an ability with a cooldown, so if itâs doing nothing else at all between cooldowns I could understand that as a problem. But, if itâs just highlighting the icon but otherwise is casting other spells then thatâs as expected.
You would have to tell me why when you play manually that you get more DPS. Are you fitting in more casts of a certain spell than the macro does? Is there a proc window you are taking advantage of? Using talents I donât have built into the macro or that I have said arenât optimal (optimal for GSE, not in the sense that the talent is best for raiding/mythics. Not all talents work well when automated in a macro)?
This macro is not being translated to my idom like the other I tried. I have to translate the skills name by myself. Any toughts why this happens?

With the buff to Mind Flay/Sear nochanneling is back on for everything but Void Explosion. Grab the updated ST and AoE macros in the OP.
