[Share Your Story] How WoW Lazy Macros or GSE has helped you or someone else?

I was out one Easter weekend with my family riding 4 wheelers when mine suffered a malfunction with the tie rod, forcing me into a ravine. My 4 wheeler rolled and I got knocked off but it rolled over me and the handle bar smashed into my left hand ripping it open to the bone. I suffered nerve damage as well as tensile flexation damage after. I have never recovered full use. I cannot spread my fingers radius and ulna much to this day without it being tense, painful and basically in discomfort. GSE helped me to go from clicking slowly with one hand to being able to utilize my left again finally. I am beyond grateful, because gaming has become a form of therapy both physically and mentally. I appreciate this site and the creator so much. I hope to be able to work around the macro issue with TWW. Thank you to the creator again, regardless of what happens, you gave me back a means of feeling like gaming again and enjoying some q-o-l.

Disabled combat vet with limitations. I could not play at a level to do dungeonbs without this add-on.

With out Larry and all those wonder full people I would not even be playing Wow. I have no movement in my hands and feet. My right is better and usable. With out Larry just to name a few I would have quit years ago. And now it just might happen. No Macros = no Dragon flight. Regardless Thank you Gse for all your hard work.

I have been WoW since Vanilla off and on. I found that it is hard for me to use the WASD buttons on keyboard, so I must use the mouse to move around, and my first keyboard was a Logitech G15 that has programable buttons on the side for my left hand for macros. Now I use a RAZER TARTARUS V2. But now as I get older, I am finding that my reaction time is not as quick as it was. I still play and enjoy the game.

I’m an ICU trauma MD and my job can get pretty violent sometimes with the wild patients we get (gang violence, etc.). One shift I had a patient stab me in the hand severing an extensor tendon. Since then it’s really hard for me to do repetitive actions so playing mmos were hard. GSE allows me to keep playing with friends and not feel like i’m a burden. Thanks!

Hi all

My uncle has been on and off, wow, but never got serious for his age and motor issues; if GSE was not here, he would not be playing.

In 2018, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Multiple Sclerosis. I had lost the ability to play wow due to shaking and pain in my arms, and hands (and well, everywhere to be exact)… I tried… but, I was never able to keep up.
Then a friend from SL, told me about this addon, and keybinding. I am not PC astute but, they walked me through it and introduced me to the site.
Now, I am not going to say it was the cure all but, it gave me back being able to enjoy the game again… so, thank you for that!
Now, I have cut my non existent response time down to 3-10 secs… may seem long to you but, to me, it’s epic.
I have recommended this to my mum who also plays but, has difficulties… I hope it helps her as much as me.

Hey guys, and gals. Back and ready to try to new expansion here. Have health issues need some direction to a solid GSE 1 button build. Have a few 70s so hOPING ONE OF THESE MACROS WILL HELP GET ME TO 80 THEN OFF TO mainly pve M+ DPS and world quests ect. Preferably my Shammy, or ret Pali. If nothing is available for TWW then something easy to get me back into the rhythm. Looks like they give a free level 70 boost with the game now that I am gonna install today. Can’t do much with hands so this site has been amazing and gives me the freedom to play again. Just very behind on everything and hoping for a point in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

A little background about myself…

Lifelong gamer about to hit 30, and had been missing the sense of community I felt games used to have.

Old college buddy of mine hit me up and invited be back to WoW. I had quit beginning of MoP, and came back with three weeks left in DF. I main Frost DK- and spent a good amount of time learning that inside and out. Over the last two weeks or so- I have hit a soft wall in being able to gear with ilvl stuck around 615, and decided to give a wide variety of alts a try. Got five or six characters to 80 thanks to GSE. It can be so overwhelming knowing what spells are important, and with the single button macros, I am able to see what is popping and learn from that.

I rotate on and off from using GSE once I learn the class- but it is a godsend being able to spam one button when I am overwhelmed or feel like I am lost.

I am an 66 years old and play since LKichking apperance. over the last few years I lost partly my eyesight and the feeling in my fingers due to illness. So I was glad to find the use of GSE. With GSE I still can enjoy the WoW game in a group. I play BM, Retri and now started Outlaw. I have organised for all my chars the Macros as follows.
1 x ST macro
1 x AOE macro

  • all casts w. longer GCD than 90 sec. I do directly.
Without GSE I would be too slow to react and compete. Thanks topo GSE I feel like a full member of the WoW society.

In my 40’s (even though I feel I have use GSE since Wrath maybe even TBC. 100% I think Wrath though.

I never thought I would actually NEED to use them. Now days I unfortunately have index fingers that like to randomly twitch, or stutter and tap my mouse or key on its own. Causing bad rotating, mis clicks and dragging things off screen a centimeter and losing it) The Macros have literally allowed me to enjoy WoW again, Without them I probably wouldnt even bother playing anymore if I am being honest.

Add my ADHD to that and inability to focus. without the macros I am too busy focusing on my dps and button rotation to notice when I am dieing bc I have to click the next rotation!!! LOL.

So yeah, they have been a game changer and game saver to where I can actually enjoy the monthly sub. Otherwise I would be back on console.

Peripheral neuropathy started in 2023 in my right hand and now I have trouble using a left-handed mouse. I need to use GSE or it gets worse quickly. Kephas vids on YT helped me decide to use it after having made my own cast sequence macros previously

Now I’ve ordered a controller and hope it’s actually compatible with my Mac. Blizzard is ahead of the curve accommodating people with challenges and hope they support consoles natively, and keep allowing GSE to be used.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you sincerely. Your kindness and support have meant a great deal, and I truly appreciate everything you’ve done. Whether you realize it or not, your efforts have made a real difference, and I’m grateful for the time, thought, and care you’ve shown.

Thank you again — it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Warm regards,

I’m old and my hands don’t work well due to lots of injuries. So this site has allowed me to keep playing and while I don’t do raids, it helps me quest and do some dungeons and Timewalking. I am not a top DPS with these but its good enough to keep me from being kicked.

I’m a stay at home dad with a daughter who is extremely autistic.

Normally, WoW is my escape, where I can reset my brain before I have to jump back into action like a yo-yo.

Ever since using GSE & WLM, I’ve been able to do so much more in WoW, while still being able to focus on my little girl when needed. Been able to do raids and M+, while my brain/eyes are always paying attention to everything around me.

Also having that 1 button macro, I can have my daughter on my lap as she watches before she loses interest. Before, that was never possible!

Of course my girl always comes first before gaming, but being able to have my escape made easier, is such a relief

Hi there! I’m EnixLHQ.

I used to code here from 2016 to 2020. If any of you were around then, you might know me. If so, hello!

Anyway, back then, in the beginning, I came to this site looking for an easy way to get really lazy while playing the game. I was burned out; I used to tank ā€œprofessionally,ā€ was in a bad place emotionally, and just was looking for a way to make this game easier. It had gotten toxic for me between the demands on me to perform in my ā€œprofessionalā€ capacity and the ridicule I’d get if I played casually and slipped in a role. I was about to quit. I left the guild, quit accepting tanking jobs, and logged on to sadly hit the training dummy for a while, not even queuing for dungeons.

So when I came here, I thought my problem was solved. I grabbed a macro and the add-on, plugged it in, and marveled at how it did most of what I wanted on a dummy. But it wasn’t perfect, and it still didn’t do well enough to keep the hatespeak in chat away, so I still felt stuck. But I also felt inspired. This was something I could do, actively do, to enhance my game. I was no LUA coder, but I was a scripter, and so I decided to throw my hat into the ring.

One day, I log in and I have this direct message. It was from someone who did a tour in Afghanistan. He had suffered an injury, disabling most of his right hand and leaving him with only two fingers and a thumb on his left hand. And he was gushing over one of my macros. He said that he had been battling depression, was desperately trying to play a game that he had with his friends for years, trying every accessibility option and add-on he could find, but all that ever did for him was make him present, but not functional. His friends, he said, were nice enough to hang around, but when they wanted to run content, they’d leave him behind. He just couldn’t contribute. Until he found one of my macros, and it changed everything for him. He had spent the night before not only running dungeons but also raiding with his friends. They were so amazed at his progress, and they cheered him on so much that when it was all over, he had to come to this site and send me a message.

I’ll never forget it. He said he had tears in his eyes as he wrote to me. He insisted on donating to me. I refused, of course, but he didn’t relent, and so I caved in and let him. He didn’t have much, just $5, but to me, that might as well have been $5k. Suddenly, everything that I was going through didn’t matter, and all I wanted to do was make this guy’s life better. I asked him what his favorite role was, and he said it was Discipline Priest, but he had no way, even with macros, of playing since his injuries. Bet. I got this. I got you.

So I made him a disc macro. I took his feedback, his desired playstyle, and I did the best I could. It eventually became Fated Discipline.

And that was that. Between the classes he played and the ones I played, I made a bunch of macros around here, but that one will always be the one that hits me in the heart.
